Tried and True
We are often asked how Fifendekel started. Well, it all began around Mom and Dad’s kitchen table over a milkshake and the desire to serve up good food without a lot of additives such as filler in a milkshake. We no longer serve milkshakes and ice cream cones (don’t worry we still have vanilla ice cream for your pie-a-la-mode) but we do still serve up the Tried and True recipes that Mom, Val and Barb oh, and Monique, have perfected over the years.
All four locations are open Monday – Friday from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. and our locations at 3434- 99 street and 10646-170 street are also open on Saturday from 9 a.m.- 3 p.m.
Our feature pie for November is one of those down home tried and true prairie pies – Saskatoon Rhubarb, two local fruits grown in many Alberta gardens and covered with a butter crumb topping.
Along with soup, salad, and sandwiches remember we serve up chili on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. All our chili is made without gluten products and on Friday we serve a vegetarian take on our chili recipe. Tuesday and Thursday it is Beef Stew, again made without gluten products. Plan an early lunch because it’s a first come first serve item that is very popular especially on those chilly days.
COVID19 has been a long haul for all of us and we truly, from the bottom of our hearts, thank you for making Fife one of your lunch stops. It’s been more difficult for some families and organizations than others so we created a little project we call the GIVING PIE. Our bakers utilize their creative juices and come up with some often new and, at times a repeat of past favourite pie, that they bake and we announce on the Fifendekel Facebook Page. The first $20 or more (yes, we suggest you call in to the location that is featuring the Giving Pie to get first dibs) gets the pie and our chosen charity gets the cash. Our current charity is Holiday Hampers Project (Junior Chamber) and that will run until December 19. We will take a break over the Christmas season and be back in 2021 with a new round of Giving Pie. Thursday and Friday are Giving Pie days. Check out the Facebook page for details as to which location you will find the Giving Pie at.
