October is Pumpkin Pie time at Fifendekel.
You may find other pumpkin pies around but it’s the spices that ‘make’ the pie. Of course, a dollop of whipped cream never hurts.
Remember to pre-order your pies so as not to be disappointed and not have a pumpkin pie for Thanksgiving. There was a Thanksgiving the family had to go without our pumpkin pie. Mom was baking that weekend and though she had baked the family pies earlier in the day we kept running out, kept waiting for the next oven full of pies to be ready, and so she allowed her stash to be sold. Unfortunately by the end of the day we ran out of pumpkin so no pies for us. She has never lived that one down and now bakes the pumpkin pies for our family dinner at home so she doesn’t feel obligated to share. So, order yours and ensure Thanksgiving dinner ends with Pumpkin Pie.

With COVID protocols and perhaps new cohorts this Thanksgiving it may be the first time you are responsible for making the dinner. Well, have we got news for you (even if you can create a wonderful meal without any problem you may be interested in checking out a ‘new to you’ recipe).
Beginning, Thursday, October 1 at 2:00 p.m. and every weekday up to and including Friday, October 9 at 2:00 p.m. each day on
Fifendekel Facebook Page we will be hosting a ‘
Fifendekel and Friends Thanksgiving Dinner’ preparation segment. If you miss the time slot they will be recorded and you can check back later in the day to catch the tips and recipes. Monique will be prepping the
Turkey and whipping up some gravy on the first Thursday, Mom has
sweet potato casserole and stuffing for you on Friday and on Monday we head out to
Thiels Greenhouse where Nadine will whip up a salad and share her Mom’s famous salad dressing recipe. And, we aren’t done. Tuesday, Bryanna, From
BarOA Flower Farm has a
floral arrangement idea for your table and Wednesday, Angela from
Four Fox Akers will create a holiday
tablescape. We really think you should spend the time and energy in making this Thanksgiving meal special. What would the meal be without a little libation? Well, we have that covered too. On Thursday, October 8, Nathan from
The Fort Distillery will be concocting a
special drink to go with your holiday meal. Friday is the wrap up day. A little
cranberry sauce, some sunflower dough buns and of course whipped cream.
Every day will be Pumpkin Pie Day. Tune us in on Facebook.
Pumpkin Pie will be with us all month long. Remember that
Chili is available on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and
Beef Stew will be served Tuesday and Thursday.
If you want to avoid the line and pre-order and pre-pay for your lunch call us at
780-465-4444. We are preparing a special pick up spot so you can ‘Skip the Line’. We are trying to find ways to make the line move a little faster and make sure you all get to cue up inside rather than outside. If you haven’t been in lately you should know we have created a bit of a maze at some locations to accommodate more bodies in the line. We still have our goals to reach to get you through the line-up quickly.
